Cutouts in frame material yielded smoother lines which have resulted in increased aerodynamics and incredible results in wind tunnel testing. We know most of the drag in a TT ride comes from the rider not the bike. Using this knowledge we worked to leverage optimal positioning while maintaining comfort to make ride position more aerodynamic. Our model with the typical rider position outperformed the competition. This machine was built with the typical age group triathlete in mind, not the elite top of the class rider, the reality is most of us are not able to maintain the same aggressive position as the world class athlete. You shouldn’t have to sacrifice ultimate performance just because you can’t maintain a very aggressive riding position. The T1 is built for the majority of the triathlete market, tested for the typical rider position and made to perform the best in all conditions. The T1 is 21.4 stiffer with its tapered headtube and is a more nimble corner because of how the front end can now turn more effectively without compromising performance. The bottom bracket has been redesigned to maximize stiffness while maintaining the best overall balance for great handling characteristics. Changing the design stiffened the bottom bracket by 12.4, due to an increased width through the center axle while maintaining the same Q-factor. The goal was a success, we optimized pedaling efficiency for the rider and were able to better increase power transfer from your effort to watts on the bike. The Z1’s adaptability is our key to success – if you are more comfortable on your TT bike you will perform better on your TT bike.
