The CycleOps 400 Pro Indoor Cycle is the most technologically advanced model they make. What differentiates it from the not-unimpressive 300 Pro model is that it uses CycleOps’ Controlled Resistance Technology. This allows the 400 Pro’s Joule 3.0 computer to conduct saved workouts for you, where the resistance has been programmed in ahead of time. You can remove the Joule 3.0 and use it on your road bike to record your favorite training loop. Have an early season race with a monster hill? Recon the course, download and edit the data, then upload back to the Joule. Ride it over and over to become familiar with the rhythm of the climb. You’ll also be able to create a ride from scratch, controlling target power outputs, slopes up or down and gearing.It comes with the Joule 3.0 cycling computer as standard equipment. The Joule, in combination with the built-in PowerTap power meter in the rear flywheel, will allow you to track a variety of information as you ride – Power in watts and w/kg and see your current, average, and max. The Fenix C20 Complete Road Bike is built to be the ultimate middle man in your cycling operation. It’s not as aerodynamic as the top-end Noah, but it weighs 170 grams less. It’s also not as light as the feathery Helium, but it’s a much smoother ride. In short, the Fenix C20 is the middle ground of Ridley’s line of bikes in all categories but one: comfort. Its unparalleled ride quality turns harsh roads to butter without sacrificing a watt of power. To keep you in the saddle all day, the Fenix C20 uses a vibration devouring blend of 30- and 24-ton unidirectional carbon fibers as opposed to the 50- to 60-ton moduli favored in only-weight-is-important frames. Potholes, cobblestones, and other road hazards are as smooth as crosswalk paint on the Fenix, but they may feel like taking repeated hammer blows to the kidneys on 60-ton carbon. The C20’s oversized bottom bracket and burly chainstays mean comfort doesn’t come at the cost of efficiency, though. If you ever get tired of wantonly running over obstacles, the stiff, tapered head tube nets responsive steering to dodge through debris with ease. The C20’s kit is a respectable affair all around, and it continues the theme of putting ride quality above flair. The Shimano 105 drivetrain and crankset deserve some special attention. Completely re-imagined for 2015, the new 105 boasts 11-speeds and a four-arm crankset. Evidently, it’s been dipping into the trickle-down basket and is enjoying some Ultegra technology. You’ll certainly enjoy the responsive shifting and incredible power transfer through the crankset, which is further highlighted by the Fulcrum Racing 7 LG wheelset. The Fenix’s frame means you won’t feel the road, but this mix of components means the road is certainly going to feel you.
